FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

A:

No one likes to receive a monthly bill from their lawyer. My clients have found great relief in knowing I charge a flat fee. You will know the total attorneys fees from the beginning. Some attorneys quote a low initial fee for minimal work but have tiers of new fees once the real work begins that can triple their initial quote. My firm does not. I am far more interested in working on defending you and fighting for your rights than I am in billing you every month. I work with each client individually on payment arrangements. My firm is established and, with over 30 years of experience exclusively in Criminal Law, I am able to charge lower fees than others with my experience. You deserve excellent representation and I will work with you to make it affordable.

Q:

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

A:

We listen. Each client and case is unique. Your situation, the allegations in your case, and your goals are as individual as you are. We will talk about everything that led up to your being charged and I will explain the entire process so you know what lies ahead. I make myself available to you to answer all of your questions about what is happening in your case and what you can expect moving forward. Communication is key and is my commitment to you when you hire Alfrey & Associates, PC to defend you.

Q:

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

A:

Curt Alfrey has earned the American Jurisprudence Awards for excellence in Criminal Trial Advocacy and Criminal Trial Evidence. Mr. Alfrey has tried 200+ jury trials on charges ranging from 1st Degree Murder, Domestic Violence Assault, Sexual Assault, Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Vehicular Homicide, Drug and Marijuana Possession and Distribution, Theft to Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI). He has lectured across the country to prosecutors and defense attorneys on the topics of criminal law advocacy, negotiations, and effective presentation to juries.

Q:

How did you get started doing this type of work?

A:

Curt Alfrey is a former Chief Deputy District Attorney. Having served under three District Attorneys, Mr. Alfrey provides his clients with an unsurpassed understanding of the issues and a unique familiarity with the deputy district attorneys and Judges in the system. Knowing the prosecutors and Judges is invaluable in negotiations and trial practice. Curt Alfrey of Alfrey & Associates, PC has practiced criminal law exclusively for over 30 years all across Colorado.

Q:

What types of customers have you worked with?

A:

Alfrey & Associates, PC aggressively and effectively advocates for clients accused of ANY crime, including Homicide, Assault, Robbery, Burglary, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Theft, Drug Possession and Distribution, DUI, and all driving offenses.

Q:

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A:

Each case and client is unique. While some cases can be successfully resolved in a short period, many situations require more time and work to ensure the best possible resolution. No matter how long it takes to ensure a just result, Alfrey & Associates, PC will fight for you until the case is dismissed or the best possible outcome is achieved. Attorneys that bill you hourly or have tiered fee structures will end up charging you significant fees the longer the case goes on. Alfrey & Associates, PC does not. The flat fee we charge covers all aspects of representation. Our mission is the achieve the best result for you, not the highest fee.

Q:

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

A:

Look for experience, especially experience as a district attorney and a trial lawyer with over 200 jury trials. Experienced attorneys who practice criminal law exclusively and have done so for decades have the expertise, insight, and connections to obtain the best results possible on each case.

Q:

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

A:

Ask about their experience, both specific and general. Do they practice other areas of law, or are they an exclusive criminal law defense firm like Alfrey & Associates, PC. The prosecutors know which lawyers are real trial lawyers and which are high-priced babysitters. Prosecutors will negotiate with attorneys they know have the experience to challenge the charges they have brought. Have they tried at least 100 jury trials? Were they previously a district attorney and know how prosecutors think? Do they charge a flat fee like Alfrey & Associates, PC, or will you have to make decisions in your case based upon whether you can keep paying their additional attorneys fees? Do they give you the time to talk and do they listen to what is important to you? We do.
